Get to Know Iowa Grapes

You may be familiar with a Chardonnay or a Pinot Grigio, but did you know those varietals aren't suitable to grow here in Iowa? Midwest grape growers plant what is known as cold-climate grapes, which are grapes that are capable of thriving in the shorter growing seasons and surviving the harsh winters we're known for in Iowa. We are not growing the same types of grapes that are found in California, Italy or France, and the varietals of grapes we're growing here are a bit different - in a good way! Take a look and get to know the grapes going into your glass of local Iowa wine - you may discover your new favorite!
